Samini is going home for Christmas. The dancehall veteran has launched Samini Xperience 2026, a homecoming event that will celebrate Dansoman, the Accra suburb where he grew up and started his music career, according to a report by Graphic Showbiz.
The main event is scheduled for December 24, 2026, with a week of activities running from December 18 to 24. The programme is part of the DC Carnival, also known as the Dan Carnival, which is being organised together with the Dansoman Municipal Assembly, Graphic Showbiz reports.
The event was launched to the media on Friday, October 16, at Kegali in Dansoman. The venue for the main event and the full line-up of performers have not yet been announced.
Samini explained that Samini Xperience is different from Saminifest, his concert series that takes his music to different parts of the country. He described the new event as "a homecoming concept held at a particular venue to give my fans and patrons a good time," according to Graphic Showbiz.
He said the partnership with the assembly would make this year's celebration larger than usual. "This is going to be bigger because the rest of Dansoman would have done their own," he said. "But collectively, we will come together as one family and bring the world to come and see what we have."
According to the report, the event aims to celebrate Dansoman's culture and talent, and to give emerging artistes from the area a chance to perform and develop their careers. Samini also called on corporate organisations to support the initiative, saying their backing would help the event grow.
The Dansoman Municipal Assembly said it had already been planning a carnival for the area before Samini approached it, which led to the collaboration, Graphic Showbiz reports.
Samini, born Emmanuel Andrews Samini, is one of the pioneers of modern Ghanaian dancehall and reggae. He rose to fame in the early 2000s under the name Batman, and went on to release hits that made him one of the biggest names in Ghanaian music.
He has won several Ghana Music Awards and collected honours abroad, including recognition at the MOBO Awards. Over two decades, he has mentored younger artistes and become one of the most respected figures in Ghana's dancehall scene.
Dansoman, on the western side of Accra, is a large and lively residential community that has produced many musicians, footballers and entertainers. For many artistes from the area, it is a source of pride and a big part of their identity.
Homecoming events like Samini Xperience have become popular among Ghanaian stars who want to give back to the communities that shaped them. They also bring business to local vendors, hospitality operators and transport workers during the busy festive season.
December is the busiest month in Ghana's entertainment calendar, with concerts, festivals and parties drawing local fans and visitors from the diaspora. Samini Xperience joins a long list of events planned for the season, from Entertainment Week Ghana's festivals to major concerts in Accra and Kumasi.
By taking place in a residential community rather than a central venue, the event could offer fans a more local, neighbourhood feel compared with the large stadium shows that dominate the season.
Fans will be waiting for the announcement of the venue, the guest artistes and the full week-long programme. Samini's call for corporate sponsors suggests the organisers are hoping to grow the event into a major fixture on Accra's festive calendar.
