Gospel musician and producer Nacee is bringing back his blend of worship, drama and laughter. The second edition of KAVOD will take place at the National Theatre in Accra on Sunday, November 8, 2026, according to a report by MyJoyOnline.

Music, theatre and comedy

Billed as "KAVOD 26: Where Comedy Meets Theatre and Music", the event combines live gospel music, theatrical performances and stand-up comedy in a single production, MyJoyOnline reports. The show is scheduled to start at 5 pm.

The line-up

According to the report, the music line-up features Nacee alongside Soul Winners, Cindy Thompson, Kofi Peprah, Yvonne Mends and Joe Mettle.

The theatre segment includes Vivian Jill, Killer Ntua, Clemento Suarez, Foster Romanus, Deaconess Abokoma, Jeneral Ntatia and DeLong, among others.

Comedy will come from Jacinta, Parrot Mouth, Jeffrey Nortey, Comedy Boy and Visa Boy, Adam Best and G.H. Pookie.

Tickets

Standard tickets cost GH¢200 and VIP tickets GH¢300, MyJoyOnline reports.

The first edition

The first KAVOD was held at the National Theatre on November 26, 2023. It paired music with a stage play about Nacee's own journey, covering his early struggles, his work in gospel and secular music, and the campaign songs he has composed for political events, according to the report. Guests at that edition included gospel musicians Sonnie Badu, Empress Gifty and Piesie Esther.

Who is Nacee?

Nacee is an award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician, songwriter and record producer, MyJoyOnline reports. Alongside his own music, he is known for producing for other gospel artistes, making him an influential figure behind the scenes of Ghana's gospel industry.

He has also written campaign songs that became popular during election seasons, which has made him a recognisable name beyond church circles.

What "Kavod" means

"Kavod" is a Hebrew word often translated as "glory" or "honour", and is used in Christian worship to describe the glory of God. The name reflects the event's roots in gospel music and worship.

A growing trend

Mixing gospel music with comedy and drama has become increasingly popular in Ghana, as organisers look for ways to attract wider audiences, including families and young people. The format also brings together performers from different parts of the creative industry, from Kumawood actors to stand-up comedians.

The National Theatre, one of Accra's best-known venues, has long hosted such productions, as well as concerts, plays and award shows. Its distinctive building, opened in 1992, has become a landmark of the capital's cultural life.

Ticket prices of GH¢200 and GH¢300 place KAVOD 26 in the mid-range for Accra events, aimed at families and church groups as well as regular concert-goers.

Part of a busy season

KAVOD 26 comes as Ghana's entertainment calendar heats up ahead of December, with concerts, festivals and church events lined up across the country. Gospel events in particular tend to draw large crowds towards the end of the year, as churches and believers mark thanksgiving and Christmas.

Familiar faces

The line-up brings together some of the best-known names in Ghanaian gospel. Joe Mettle and Cindy Thompson are long-established worship leaders with loyal followings, while the theatre cast includes actors familiar from local films and television dramas. The comedy segment draws on comedians popular on stage and social media.

Putting such a varied cast on one bill is designed to appeal to different generations, from older churchgoers to younger fans who follow comedians online.

What to watch

With a large cast spread across music, theatre and comedy, fans will be watching to see how Nacee brings the three elements together on stage, and whether the second edition can build on the first and become a regular fixture on Accra's end-of-year calendar.
