Gyakie is returning to the stage. The Ghanaian singer has announced a major concert at Ghud Park, Accra Mall, on Saturday, December 12, 2026, according to a report by 3News.
Gyakie has spent time away from performing to focus on new music, 3News reports. Much of that break went into making her upcoming album, Midnight.
She describes the December show as a way to thank her fans for their steady support during her time away from the stage.
"I want my music to make people laugh, dance, and truly enjoy themselves," she said, according to the report.
The concert will take place at Ghud Park, an outdoor venue at Accra Mall that has hosted several concerts and festive events. The report did not give an official title for the show, ticket prices or details of guest performers.
Gyakie has promised more new music, live performances and exclusive content in the build-up to the concert, 3News reports.
Gyakie, born Jackline Acheampong, is the daughter of highlife legend Nana Acheampong. She rose to international fame in 2020 with "Forever", a soulful Afro-R&B song whose remix with Nigerian star Omah Lay became one of the biggest African hits of 2021, charting across Africa and beyond.
Her smooth vocals and romantic lyrics have made her one of the most successful Ghanaian female artistes of her generation, with a large following in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and the diaspora.
No release date for Midnight had been announced at the time of the report, and the tracklist and features have not been revealed. A headline show in December gives Gyakie a natural stage to perform new songs live, and fans will be hoping to hear some of the album before or at the concert.
For artistes, a well-timed concert can build momentum for an album, drawing media attention, boosting streams and giving fans a shared experience around new music.
Gyakie's show joins an already busy festive calendar in Ghana. December is traditionally the peak season for concerts, festivals and parties, as Ghanaians abroad and international visitors travel home for the holidays. The government launched its December in GH 2026 campaign last month, themed "Ghana to the World", to promote the season.
Industry voices have raised concerns about the sheer number of December events competing for the same audiences, sponsors and artistes. A headline concert by one of the country's most popular singers is likely to be one of the season's major draws.
Gyakie's announcement adds to a growing list of Ghanaian women headlining their own major shows. Female artistes have often spoken about the difficulty of securing sponsorship and stage time compared with their male counterparts, making solo headline concerts an important statement.
Gyakie's most famous collaborator, Omah Lay, recently postponed his Clarity of Mind Tour after a knee ligament injury, saying he expects to be out for four to six weeks. No guest performers have been announced for the December 12 show.
As the daughter of Nana Acheampong, one half of the celebrated highlife duo Lumba Brothers with the late Daddy Lumba, Gyakie grew up surrounded by music. She has often spoken about her father's influence, while carving out a modern sound of her own that blends Afrobeats, R&B and highlife.
Fans will be watching for ticket details, the full line-up and new singles from Midnight in the coming weeks. With six weeks to go, the build-up to December 12 is likely to be a busy one for Gyakie and her team.
