Black Sherif has added a major corporate partnership to an already crowded year. According to a report by YEN.com.gh, the rapper was unveiled as the new brand ambassador for Telecel Cash, the mobile money service of Telecel Ghana, at a launch held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.

The announcement lands in the same week that streaming data placed the Konongo-raised star at the top of Ghana's Audiomack rankings for the third quarter of 2026, making it one of the more commercially significant weeks of his career so far.

What was announced

YEN.com.gh reports that Black Sherif was presented both as the ambassador for Telecel Cash and as the face of a new company initiative described as Project X, which some attendees have nicknamed "Telecel X". The outlet says the campaign is built around pairing the brand's digital financial services with the artiste's personal story of resilience and his rise from humble beginnings.

The rapper also performed at the event. According to the report, he delivered an emotional set that drew on the hardships he has spoken about in his music, and guests responded with a standing ovation. Videos from the launch, credited to TV3 and the artiste's own channels, circulated widely on social media afterwards.

The report says Black Sherif shared a message with fans about how they could benefit from the partnership, but specific details of any customer offers had not been published at the time of writing. Talk Talk has not seen an official statement from Telecel Ghana setting out the terms or duration of the deal.

A familiar partner

The partnership builds on an existing relationship. Telecel is the headline sponsor of the Ghana Music Awards, and at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards on May 9, 2026, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, Black Sherif was the night's biggest winner. He took home five trophies: Artiste of the Year, Album/EP of the Year for Iron Boy, Songwriter of the Year and Afropop Song of the Year for "Sacrifice", and Hip-Hop Song of the Year for "Where Dem Boys".

The Album of the Year win came with a GH¢100,000 reward package, and later in May the rapper visited Telecel's headquarters in what local media described as a victory lap after the awards. That visit is now being read by fans as an early sign of the closer commercial tie announced this week.

The Telecel Cash deal is not his first brand role. Black Sherif has previously been an ambassador for smartphone maker Infinix and appeared in campaigns for payments app Chipper Cash, showing that brands see him as a reliable way to reach young Ghanaian and African audiences.

Top of the Audiomack table

The timing is helped by fresh streaming numbers. Data published on October 5 by the tracking account Charts Ghana, and reported by YEN.com.gh, ranked Black Sherif as the most-streamed Ghanaian artiste on Audiomack in Q3 2026, with about 60.60 million streams.

According to those figures, he finished ahead of Shatta Wale (57.62 million) and Kweku Smoke (54.24 million), with Lasmid (27.40 million) and Sarkodie (21.12 million) completing the top five. O'Kenneth, Daddy Lumba, KiDi, Fameye and Stonebwoy made up the rest of the top ten.

The appearance of the late Daddy Lumba at number seven, with roughly 18.16 million streams, drew particular attention. The highlife legend, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60, and his catalogue has continued to draw large audiences more than a year later. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

Charts Ghana is an independent tracking account rather than an official Audiomack release, so the figures should be read as a third-party snapshot of the quarter.

New music in the background

The deal comes about a month after Black Sherif released Sun Sherif, a six-track EP that came out on September 4, 2026, through RBA and EMPIRE. YEN.com.gh notes that the lead single, "Love Again", features Full Blown, while AratheJay appears on the track "Forever".

The project continues a run that began with the viral success of "Second Sermon" in 2021 and "Kwaku the Traveller" in 2022, followed by his debut album The Villain I Never Was and later Iron Boy. Each release has helped turn him into one of the most streamed and most closely watched acts from Ghana.

Why it matters for the industry

Telecom companies and their mobile money arms remain among the biggest financial backers of Ghanaian music, through award sponsorships, concert tours and ambassador deals. A major fintech brand signing the country's most decorated artiste of the year shows that the market for big endorsements is still active, and that brands want to be associated with artistes who can combine streaming numbers with a strong personal story.

For Black Sherif, the partnership adds a commercial pillar to a year that has already brought a TGMA sweep, a new EP and chart-topping streams. Fans will now be watching to see how Project X develops and whether it leads to new music, live shows or customer campaigns built around the rapper in the months ahead.
