Accra's December calendar is filling up fast. Highlife star Bisa Kdei has set a date for his new event, The Convention, while South African DJ and producer Dlala Thukzin is coming to Ghana for the first time to headline Accra House Fest 2026.
Both events were announced through Ameyaw Debrah, with further details reported by YFM and News Ghana for Bisa Kdei's show.
The Convention will take place on Sunday, December 20, 2026, at the Underbridge Annex in East Legon, Accra. Ameyaw Debrah describes it as a celebration of Ghanaian highlife music and culture.
The organisers say the event aims to bring "highlife lovers from all walks of life together for an unforgettable experience, and to celebrate the rich culture and timeless sound of good music." It promises live music performances and nonstop entertainment.
Tickets can be pre-ordered by dialling *714*911# on all networks or through the official website, bisaconvention.live, Ameyaw Debrah reports. Table reservations are available by calling 0262-455-123.
Bisa Kdei first revealed plans for the event in August during an appearance on YFM, where he also said he was working on a new album and an EP. "I am working on my album and I am working on my EP as well, which is going to come out great," he said, according to YFM.
Bisa Kdei, born Ronald Kwaku Dei Appiah, has been in the music industry for more than 15 years and is one of the leading voices of modern highlife, known for hits such as Mansa and Asew.
Two days later, on December 22, Accra House Fest 2026 will welcome Dlala Thukzin for his first-ever performance in Ghana, Ameyaw Debrah reports.
Dlala Thukzin is a Durban-based DJ and producer known for 3-step and Afro tech. His 2023 single iPlan was certified double platinum, and he has been nominated at the BET Awards for Best New International Act.
The festival is a day-to-night event running from the afternoon until sunrise, with a cultural market, art installations and a chill-out zone. The line-up will also feature Ghanaian DJ collectives, with more international acts to be announced. Tickets are available at accrahousefest.com.
Co-founder Araba Ofori-Acquah, known as Araba.OA, said the city's house scene is at an exciting point, adding that creative expression, community and joy matter more than aesthetics, according to Ameyaw Debrah. The festival says its mission is to support sustainable careers for Ghanaian house music artists through performances, workshops and cultural exchange.
The two events reflect the range of Accra's music scene. The Convention celebrates highlife, one of Ghana's oldest and most beloved genres. Accra House Fest taps into the fast-growing popularity of house and amapiano-influenced dance music, much of it driven by South African artists and a new generation of Ghanaian DJs.
With two major events just two days apart, fans planning a December in Accra may want to book early. Ticket prices for both events had not been widely publicised at the time of the announcements, so fans should check the official websites and channels for up-to-date details and avoid buying from unofficial sellers.
December has become the busiest month of the year for entertainment in Ghana, as diaspora visitors and tourists arrive for the holidays. Concerts, festivals and parties fill the calendar, a season widely known as "Detty December," which has become an important source of income for artistes, promoters, hotels and small businesses.
With weeks still to go, fans can expect more events to be announced. Talk Talk will keep track of the biggest shows on the December calendar.
